Baldwin Piano Supports Nashville International Airport

Custom Piano Finds Home in Tootsie’s Lounge

NASHVILLE, Tenn (April 9, 2008) – Patrons of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in the Nashville International Airport (BNA) wine, dine and mingle around a giant Leopard.  But fear not because this leopard isn’t live, rather it is a Baldwin Grand Custom piano featuring exclusive leopard print woodwork and design.

Gifted to BNA by Baldwin Piano, a division of Nashville-based Gibson Guitar, for permanent display in Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on the non-secure side of the terminal, the Baldwin Custom Leopard Grand piano arrived at the airport on March 12th. Country singer and songwriter Deborah Allen, who has performed at the airport, played a key role in partnering with Baldwin Piano on this project. Passengers and visitors alike are showing great interest in the uniquely designed piano causing it to also become the perfect photo spot for many who wish to take home that special keepsake photo from their travels.

The Leopard is part of Baldwin’s Custom Exotic Collection of pianos.  This particular piano features hard rock maple cabinetry, virgin wool hammers and pure ebony wood sharps.  The addition of the piano not only brings a glamorous aesthetic to Tootsie’s, but it also provides an exceptional in-house instrument for airport performers.  Baldwin Piano’s support was made specifically to the Metropolitan Airport Authority’s (MNAA) Arts at the Airport program.  Photo of piano attached for press or go to www.gibson.com/press under Baldwin Piano.

This option is available for the 2004 and 2005 returns only. IRS Publication 600, Optional State Sales Tax Tables, helps taxpayers determine their sales tax deduction amount in lieu of saving their receipts throughout the year. Nashville Piano Techs Rebuild Piano to Help Friend in Need

04/07/2005 -

NASHVILLE – Piano tuners usually create perfect pitch for their customers, but this month they are creating the perfect sales pitch. "We are the guys that service, not sell, pianos," said James Arledge, the current president of the local chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. "But this is a special circumstance is, and we are all eager to help a friend." He explains that the guild’s immediate past president, Steve Kelly, is facing mounting medical costs after being diagnosed recently with blood cancer, and the best tuners/technicians in the business are stepping in to do what they do best: rebuild pianos with "perfect pitch" and sell them for a song.

Two pianos are being built and offered for bidding: a baby grand and an upright. Arledge explains. "We have done charity projects in the past but not quite anything that hits this close to home." The technicians will donate the proceeds from the two pianos directly to the National Foundation for Transplants, specifically to benefit Steve Kelly. "Our last piano project was able to generate $13,000 for cancer and leukemia research, and we hope this project is equally successful to help our friend."For more information about the pianos and/or to place a bid contact James Arledge at pianotuner@aol.com.

IRS Tax Break On Purchases

11/25/2004 -

You could get a tax break from the IRS on any purchase of any piano or organ.

Sales Tax Deduction — Taxpayers who itemize deductions will have a choice of claiming a state and local tax deduction for either sales or income taxes on their 2004 and 2005 returns. The IRS will provide optional tables for use in determining the deduction amount, relieving taxpayers of the need to save receipts throughout the year. Sales taxes paid on motor vehicles and boats may be added to the table amount, but only up to the amount paid at the general sales tax rate. Taxpayers will check a box on Schedule A, Itemized Deductions, to indicate whether their deduction is for sales or income taxes.

Consult your tax adviser for specific advice, but you can see the new IRS regulations and details by clicking here. See our newspaper ad here (requires the free Adobe reader to view, download here).
